Really. Where IS Fiona Apple? Better yet, where is her rumored next album, Extraordinary Machine? Her official website is still promoting "When The Pawn" as if it were a new release, causing an eery frozen in 1999 vibe, and Jon Brion, Miss Apple's producer, recently told Rollingstone that the album is done but has been indefinitely shelved by Sony for lack of an obvious single. Now koshi hears, through the frequently unreliable grapevine, that they are currently recording at Cello in Hollywood. Maybe they're making that missing "single" to tack on to appease the label? Maybe koshi has no business speculating on such things? Regardless, it stinks that an artist with her gift and level of musical integrity would be shaped and packaged with such an unimaginative pop mentality.
